“I’d like to share some wonderful progress I’ve made with my fear of heights. Last weekend Mark and I went hiking and we intentionally chose a place with some challenging views. We hiked the Giant Stairs at Pallisades Park in New Jersey. The hike went down a winding path to the river. There is even a sign at one point saying that there is a steep ascent (on the way back up) and that it is a challenging hike. I was able to do the whole thing without freezing up! I went at a slow to moderate pace when it was steep and had to stop once and really slow down to a snail’s pace at one point, but I felt calm throughout the whole hike.
I felt amazingly proud of myself when I finished the hike! There was even a waterfall at the bottom of the path that was a fantastic reward.
